Fun on the farm

We met a group of friends at a goat dairy today for a free self-guided tour. We saw lots of baby goats - some who were less than a week old, pregnant goats, milking goats and the bucks.

Ava enjoyed petting and feeding all of the goats and had a grand old time. :) I think all of the kids enjoyed themselves and it was a fun way for us to spend the afternoon. Plus the weather was perfect. Who could've asked for more?

After we finished making the rounds, we sampled some cheeses and bought some chevre marinated in olive olive with garlic and spices. OMG. It's soooo yummy.

Here are some pics from the day. (Click the pic to see it larger.)

Checking out the older baby goats.

Ava and a couple of her friends (the boys, not the goats). ;)

Amy you are SOOOO talented with that camera! It sounds (and looks) like a lovely day. I just love goat cheese. I used to live on a farm and we also had goats. Some females and one stinky billy goat. We would milk the goats and have that as our milk. They have such neat personalities and I love their BAAAAA BAAAAA sounds, especially the kids. :)

Very nice shots. The first one looks a bit like Ava is in a cage! Fun fun fun!

It sees you had pretty good time. Nice that children have the opportunity to build such a relation with animals.
Ava's pics are so good as always, you're really talented.

I hope you will enjoy as many outings with Ava as you can this spring and summer. She's getting so big. Looks like a great place for little human kids to learn about goat-type "kids" :) Nice photos too-clear and sharp. But you do have a perfect subject to work with.

Awww, I love goats. Especially the floppy-eared nubians. We used to go buy goat milk from a nubian farm when I was a child. Baby goats are so sweet and affectionate.

Thank you all. We had a lot of fun. I'm thinking that we might go back there on Saturday (which is their other free day for tours) so that Jody can come too. Or he might just take Ava while I stay home and get some photography proofing work done.

I'm surprised to hear how many of you used to have goats or have fond memories of goats. :) Very cool.
