Time for reflection - 9/11
I want to take some time (hopefully) today to reflect upon the events of 9/11/01, since I didn't get a chance to yesterday. I certainly didn't forget that yesterday was the anniversary.
Jody and I finally watched 9/11. It had been sitting on our entertainment center (rented from Netflix) watiting to be seen for the past few weeks. It seemed only appropriate that we chose last night to sit down and watch it.
Anyway, hopefully I can steal away and blog a bit later while Ava is napping.

I haven't seen that one yet. I honestly don't know whether or not my stomach can handle it.
I cry so easily these days. My family has stopped asking what's wrong. Hmmm...maybe it's time to buy another pregnancy test.
But anyway, I'm sure I'll watch that sometime. I just have to get a bit further from the whole Katrina thing before I can put more saddness into my heart.
funny, you managed to post about "other" things going on in your life, but not 9/11 on 9/11? you seem so knowledgeable about worldly issues, except the two biggest ones...Katrina and 9/11.

Or maybe she just posts more frequently about topics without a champion. If you're looking to her blog to get info on Katrina or 9/11, you've got bigger issues. Not to mention the fact that you only visit to piss and moan. Why don't you go play in the street ya ass hat.

Markerjon - Perhaps you aren't familiar with how Blogger works, but you can type a blog and save it as a draft only to post it at a later date/time. I wrote the majority of my "happy things" post on Saturday (9/10/05) but didn't have a chance to upload it until Sunday (9/11/05). I don't really even know why I'm explaining this to you, except that others might think I was callous in my choice of topics for 9/11.
Also, I didn't realize that Katrina and 9/11 were the two "biggest worldly issues." I agree that they were huge and horrible and devastating, but the "biggest worldly issues?" It's a big world out there, my friend.
One more thing, I didn't realize there was a list of required blog topics. Do you hound everyone who doesn't adhere to your list or am I the only lucky one? Can you post your list so that we all might know what is required of us?

Yes, I believe ON 9/11, that is the biggest worldly issue and you may not think so, but Katrina IS the other big worldly issue at the moment. I'm not saying there aren't other issues in the world, but right now those were the biggest two.
There is no list of "required" topics, just be respectful of those families that have lost their loved ones when the time is right.
Amy, No we are not trying. It's just that sometimes b.c. fails, and since I am highly irregular, you just never know. So we spend a lot of time and money wondering.
Oh and markerjon, why don't you link to your blog so that we can see what kind of truly thought provoking and politically relevant things you've been writing? I'm sure we'd all be amazed by your brilliance.

As for Katrina, no, I haven't written about it yet. The right words don't always come to me instantaneously so I wait until I have them.

Thanks for sharing your rememberance. I am not posting mine, as I have banned all thoughts of Katrina and 9/11 from my life at the moment. I did what I could to help at the time, and now for my own mental health have to let it go...
Sorry Amy, I am not markerjon, but I am happy to see that I'm not the only one who questions why there were no posts about the hurricane but I do see you have a link to donate to the red cross now, how nice.
I'm sorry but you do come across rather insensitive that you didn't post about the hurricane or 9/11 on 9/11 because you are so passionate about so many "worldly" things. I'm sure it would be a different story if some late night talk show host made a rude comment about breastfeeding in public or if HBO came out with a new cartoon marketed for babies, you would be all over that.
But bottem line, it's YOU'RE blog, you post what you feel is important for the cyberworld to see. And like you have said "if I can't play nice I shouldn't play at all" and disrupt the happy, crunchy world. I will try to keep my comments to myself and not be such an idiot.
Beckie - I can understand why you'd do that. I know if I was pregnant, I wouldn't want to deal with all the sadness and negativity that surround those events.
Em - I appreciate you clearing that up.
I guess I can see how not posting about the hurricane makes me come across as insensitive, but, like I said before, just because I didn't post about it doesn't mean I didn't do anything about it or think about it.
I tend to fight for the underdog. There are hundreds and thousands (if not millions) of people writing about the hurricane. Everybody knows about it. Something I write here is not going to give any new insight about it. I just don't have that kind of information. I try to raise awareness for things that many people don't know about - the things that the media doesn't cover. That's not to say the hurricane coverage isn't important. It definitely is! But I'm not the person to report on that. I don't know anyone who lives/lived there. I have no personal stories to share. My family has donated what we can and will continue to do so. I feel horribly for all the people who have lost everything and can't imagine being in their shoes.
What confuses me is that you and markerjon only seem to have negative things to post about here. My question is why read my blog at all if it upsets you?
Rowan, I don't have a blog. I always hear people talking about them and I like to jump around and read them.
I haven't changed my name ever, this is the first time I have ever posted to your site. I'm not trying to hide anything. My name is actually Jon. I never said you were disrespectful, I just don't understand why you wouldn't make any comments about them. Who cares if you don't have a personal story to tell, you never know if what you say would touch someone's life. Millions of people read blogs just for the hell of it, why not try to touch as many as you can?

That is a very sweet thought, and would seem to mean that your heart is in the right place, but... do you realize what you're saying? As you log in here to flame Amy for not talking about topics YOU deem worthy?
If I understand your statement, you're suggesting that Amy watch what she says because it could hurt someone (or uplift them.) Right?

Based on what my stats program tells me about visitors to my blog, I have a very good guess about some "anonymous" posters' true identities, and it hurts and saddens me to think that these people feel the need to hide behind pseudonyms instead of just talking to me.
